Future Cities Canada was founded in 2018 by five organizations: the McConnell Foundation, TD Bank Group, Evergreen, Maison de l'innovation sociale and Community Foundations of Canada.
A growing network of partners is supporting this collaborative platform and participating initiative-wide, as well as through specific programs and projects.

The Government of Canada has selected Evergreen, working in partnership with OpenNorth, and their Future Cities Canada collaborative platform to deliver advisory and capacity-building services for communities nation-wide as they explore and implement smart cities approaches. This funding is awarded under the new Smart Cities Community Support Program
