Moving from Planning to Implementation on Climate Change Adaptation

In partnership with ICLEI Canada, the Community Solutions Network is delivering an innovation workshop for municipal city staff and Indigenous leaders from across the region of Atlantic Canada who are interested in climate adaptation and resilience, using data and technology approaches.
While developing adaptation plans is an important process, and one that is capable of delivering positive outcomes, it can also overestimate the ability of planning to deliver the intended outcomes of adaptation – namely a reduction of risk from extreme weather or other weather-related hazards.
Targeted at the variety of communities located in the Atlantic provinces, this session will focus on how we can move from the continuous process of planning and re-planning and begin advancing implementation.
Join Evergreen, ICLEI, and CLIMAtlantic at either our in-person in Halifax, Nova Scotia or virtual workshop to hear from our presenter(s) about the drivers and constraints to implementation, as well as how they have used available funds, tools, and resources to help implement adaptation and resilience actions on the ground.
Following the presentation(s), we will launch into an interactive dialogue where participants will get a chance to discuss the barriers faced in implementing adaptation initiatives in their own community, and brainstorm the partnerships required and what opportunities exist to build momentum and continue advancing this work.
