What does the future of healthy cities look like when in the hands of youth? Come find out at Urban Action Pitch Night!

After months of research, interviewing, mapping and critical thinking, the youth city builders from Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge and Guelph are ready to pitch their “Healthy City” solutions – from food security to transit to safe and vibrant green spaces.

Join us on Wednesday, July 13th 7-9 pm ET for the virtual Urban Action Pitch Night where all six teams of the Future City Builders program will present their vision for healthy cities for the chance to win $5,000 in seed funding.

Future City Builders is an immersive Evergreen initiative for youth aged 18-29 to effect positive change in their communities. Through Evergreen’s new Virtual Design Thinking labs, networking opportunities, workshops, and mentorship, youth are prepared to take action within their communities. At the same time, they are building job-ready skills, increasing their professional networks and gaining important work-related experience that will serve them well into their careers.

In its second year, Future City Builders is focusing on Healthy Cities, equipping youth to lead innovative solutions that address the systemic barriers facing Canadian communities. In this cohort, we’ve virtually engaged 32 youth in Kitchener, Waterloo, Cambridge and Guelph to lead innovative solutions to build a healthier city. These youth city builders have designed a solution and will deliver their pitch to a panel of judges at the conclusion of the program – Urban Action Pitch Night. Their solutions will attempt to build a flourishing, connected, and healthier KWCG region. You can read about last year’s winners and their exciting projects here.

Future City Builders is funded by RBC Foundation in support of RBC Future Launch and the Government of Canada’s Future Skills Centre. The Future City Builders program is an initiative of Future Cities Canada, a national collaborative platform accelerating innovation to transform cities.
