John Purkis

John Purkis is a sustainability expert, strategic planner, designer, and systems change specialist with over 25 years of experience. He works with all orders of government, businesses, and other organizations to generate and implement bold visions for a sustainable future.
John worked on several housing solution lab initiatives over the past 5 years including the Nunavut Condominium Corporation Insurance Solutions Lab, which explored remote and northern housing supply issues. John also co designed and facilitated a series of working sessions for Canada Mortgage and Housing’s housing benefit initiative with PEI, New Brunswick, and Nunavut.
He recently coordinated a review of the National Housing Strategy for the National Housing Council and worked with Evergreen on the design and delivery of the Housing Supply Challenge. He has worked with clients such as Evergreen’s GTA Housing Action Lab, Canada Mortgage and Housing, Environment and Climate Change Canada, Real Property Services, Health Canada, Infrastructure Canada, PCL Construction, The Town of Whitby, Riviére-du-Loup, St Anne de Bellevue, the British Virgin Islands, the City of Eindhoven, the Abu Dhabi Department of Municipal Affairs, and many more. John helped establish the Federation of Canadian Municipalities Green Municipal Fund and their capacity building program, which included rural and norther initiatives.
