LoriAnn is an entrepreneurial leader with 30 years of experience in urban revitalization, affordable housing, community planning and non-profit management in the United States, Canada and Africa. Her practice is centered on working with resident-led and nonprofit organizations on the who, why and how of high-impact housing, placemaking and regeneration. Her achievements include facilitating the development of over 2,000 affordable and supportive housing units and multiple community and cultural facilities. As Senior Advisor, Brownsville Partnership, she is leading a multi-pronged approach to fostering neighborhood-wide housing stability as a platform for measurable improvements in health and economic mobility.
Previously, she was Chief Operating Office for Toronto Artscape Inc. an urban development organization that levers the power of arts and culture for inclusive city building and transformative neighbourhood change. Through these and other leadership roles, she has gained comprehensive and thoughtful experience in community engagement, property and asset management, finance and impact investment, and resident services and supports as well as bricks and mortar development featuring sustainable design including Passive House. Prior to making Canada her home in 2010, she established and led the national arm of Breaking Ground, a precursor to Community Solutions, a US non-profit helping communities solve social problems that contribute to homelessness. She has been recognized as a Women’s Leadership Institute Champion – Urban Land Institute Toronto and was a 2004-2006 University of Pennsylvania Center for Urban Redevelopment Excellence Fellow. She is proficient in French.
